When opening it for the first time

The app asks for the address of your Flowplan instance – for example app.flowplan.org.
macOS: the app is notarized by Apple and opens without a warning – just drag it into Applications.
Windows: for SmartScreen “More info” → “Run anyway”.
Linux: make the AppImage executable (chmod +x) and start it.

Updates

New Flowplan features arrive through the server – no update needed. New versions of the app itself are found automatically and installed on the next start on Mac, Windows and Linux. With version 1.0.5 or older on a Mac, download the current one here once.
